This project is located in a dense urban area of sydney. The damp and oppressive site was overpowered by a 5.5m wall from an adjoining warehouse on its north and west boundaries.
In order to counteract the ominous presence of these warehouses, an inward looking courtyard design was proposed. The courtyard borrowed borrowed greenery form neighbouring properties and turned its back on the warehouses whilst allowing beams of light to penetrate deep into its space. The house is an oasis from the imposing industrial setting . It uses bright colours to refocus your view, for instance the boundary wall is a deep coral that links all the spaces together whilst drawing you eye to the blue sky via extensive glazing above it.
